The Minnesota State Energy Center of Excellence is pleased to announce that Zach Miller has been selected as its new Assistant Director for Communications & Outreach. His first day on the job was Monday, August 11. In his new role, Miller will be responsible for spearheading the Center’s public relations and outreach strategies to bolster its mission to develop a highly skilled energy workforce in Minnesota.
“We’re thrilled that Zach will be sharing his expertise with us to grow our connections and impact across the state,” said Logan Schrader, the Center’s executive director. “An engaged community is our most valuable asset to developing strong pathways to meaningful careers.”

Miller brings a wealth of experience from his previous roles. Most recently, as Head of Communications at Minitex, a joint program of the University of Minnesota and the Minnesota Office of Higher Education, Miller was responsible for managing all marketing and communications efforts, including digital and print promotions, events, and advocacy. His accomplishments at Minitex included streamlining and strengthening the organization’s news, promotions, and social media presence, achieving high readership for their e-newsletter, and creating Minitex’s first guide to branding and style. He also successfully completed a market research study to inform advocacy efforts.
Miller’s background also includes serving as a Clinical Trial Communications Coordinator at the University of Minnesota Medical School and as a Public Affairs Specialist at the U.S. National Science Foundation. His academic credentials include a Master of International Affairs from The George Washington University and a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy and Physics from Saint Olaf College. During his undergraduate studies, he completed a summer research program in High Energy Physics through the National Science Foundation at Kansas State University.
“When you combine challenges such as climate change with opportunities like the emergence of generative artificial intelligence, there has never been a more critical time to support Minnesota’s energy sector,” Miller said. “And Minnesota has the talent and resources to lead the nation. I expect to accomplish amazing things together!”
